What is Birdies for Charlotte Charities?
This year, the Wells Fargo Championship is introducing a new fundraising program called the Birdies for Charlotte Charities (BFCC). This program will give participating charities the opportunity to generate contributions for their organization based on the number of “birdies” made by PGA TOUR professionals during the 2021 Wells Fargo Championship at Quail Hollow Club on May 3-9, 2021.
How it Works
Upon completion of the tournament, each charity will receive 100% of the amount pledged by donors, as well as an additional contribution equal to 5% of the participating charities fundraising total. As an example, if a charity raised $20,000 total, the Wells Fargo Championship will provide a 5% match of $1,000 for a total raised of $21,000. The individual donor who successfully guesses the exact number of birdies will be awarded a Grand Prize. In the event of a tie there will be an audited blind drawing to determine the winner.
How to Donate
Make a pledge of one cent or more for every “Birdie” made by the PGA TOUR Pros during the Wells Fargo Championship. If 1,500 birdies are made during the 2021 event (in 2019, there were a total of 1,434 birdies made during the Wells Fargo Championship), here are the totals for some typical pledge amounts:
- 1 cent pledge = $15 total pledge
- 3 cents pledge = $45 total pledge
- 10 cents pledge = $150 total pledge
- $1.00 pledge = $1,500 total pledge
You can also make a flat donation not tied to birdies. For flat donations, the minimum is $20.
The minimum birdie pledge is $.01 and the maximum pledge is $1.00. The last day to submit a pledge is Wednesday, May 5, 2021.
How do I make a donation through Birdies for Charlotte Charities?

How do I become a participating charity?
APPLY HERE! 501(c)(3) organizations in the Charlotte area are eligible to participate. Once qualified and approved by the Wells Fargo Championship, organizations may begin soliciting pledges/ donations until the deadline on May 5, 2021.
What is the minimum donation amount?
The minimum amount that can be pledged is: TWO OPTIONS: 1. $20 per guess or 2. $0.01 per birdie
How do I make a payment for my donation?
Upon completion of the tournament, you will receive an invoice that can be paid online by credit card or by check. To be eligible for bonus pool money or to earn prizes, all donations must first be received by the Wells Fargo Championship.
When is the payment deadline?
All donations must be sent to the Wells Fargo Championship by June 11, 2021.
Is my donation tax deductible?
Yes, all donations are tax deductible. When completing payment online, donors will receive an automatic email with a donation confirmation & receipt that can be used for tax purposes. Mailed donations will receive an emailed receipt after payment has been received and processed.
