2012 Champion Rickie Fowler Commits to Play in Wells Fargo Championship
Charlotte, NC — April 19, 2019 — Rickie Fowler, the 2012 Wells Fargo Championship winner and the No.10 ranked player in the world, committed today to play in Charlotte’s PGA TOUR event, scheduled for April 29-May 5 at Quail Hollow Club.
The first of Fowler’s five career PGA TOUR victories was at Quail Hollow Club, when he defeated Rory McIlroy and D.A. Points in a playoff with birdie on the 18th hole. Fowler has finished among the top ten here two other times with a 6th place finish in 2010 and a T4 in 2016.
Earlier this year, Fowler won the Waste Management Phoenix Open. His career victories also include THE PLAYERS Championship in 2015.
Fowler becomes the fifth past champion to commit, joining Jason Day, J.B. Holmes, Lucas Glover and Rory McIlroy.
With this addition to the field, there are currently eight players among the top 25 in the world rankings scheduled to compete at Quail Hollow Club including No.4 Rory McIlroy, No.5 Justin Thomas, No.10 Rickie Fowler, No.12 Paul Casey, No.13 Jason Day, No.20 Webb Simpson, No.23 Phil Mickelson, No.24 Gary Woodland.
Players have until Friday, April 26 at 5:00 p.m. Eastern time to commit to the Wells Fargo Championship and can withdraw from the tournament at any time.
