Salute to Heroes Donation Supports Military Families, Small Businesses
The Wells Fargo Championship is proud to support Salute to Heroes Charlotte Foundation (STHCF) and its mission to support first responders and their families in time of need, an effort that has become more important than ever during the COVID-19 pandemic.
In particular, we are grateful for the opportunity to help provide meals to our frontline healthcare heroes through the STHCF Feed the Frontline meal program. Through this partnership with Mecklenburg EMS, STHCF was able to serve over 13,000 meals to frontline healthcare heroes in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg area, feeding every public safety organization including the police, fire, sheriffs, MEDIC, NC Highway Patrol, Mecklenburg ABC-ALE and more. Feed the Frontline has also positively impacted the business community, an important focus for the Wells Fargo Championship and Wells Fargo. STHCF purchases meals at full price from local restaurants to support these businesses and their team members who have all been impacted during the pandemic.
The Wells Fargo Championship is also pleased to be able to contribute to the time-honored tradition of the Chief’s Cup Baseball Game, a charitable event that dates back to the 1930s.
The 2021 Celebration of Heroes Chief’s Cup Baseball Game took place on Saturday, September 11, the 20th anniversary of 9/11. This year’s baseball game was yet another success, drawing a crowd of over 4,000 fans to watch as the Charlotte Fire Department defeated the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department by a score of 14-5 and helping raise funds to support many deserving first responder families. This event also provided financial, physical, and emotional support for several other local non-profits including The Patriot Military Family Foundation (PMFF), an organization committed to providing service-disabled veterans and their families and the families of those who have given the ultimate sacrifice. The Wells Fargo Championship is proud to work with STHCF on these and other important initiatives and, on Veterans Day and every day, we would like to keep in mind and pray for all those who serve, have served, and those who have been lost in the line of duty.
