Wells Fargo Championship earns “Best Of” award at PGA TOUR Tournament Meetings
PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FLORIDA – The Wells Fargo Championship (Charlotte, North Carolina) was honored by the PGA TOUR at the TOUR’s Tournament Meetings on November 20.
The 2019 Wells Fargo Championship, held at Quail Hollow Club, earned the “Players Choice” award. The award, voted on exclusively by PGA TOUR members, is based on players’ experiences during tournament week, and considers tournament services, hospitality, player and family amenities, the golf course and more.
“On behalf of the PGA TOUR, I am thrilled to congratulate the Wells Fargo Championship on being recognized with a ‘Best Of’ award for the 2018-19 PGA TOUR Season,” said Chief Tournaments and Competitions Officer Andy Pazder. “The tournament committee and title sponsor Wells Fargo should be extremely proud of their collaborative efforts and for being celebrated by the players themselves as the best on TOUR.”
The tournament staff went above and beyond to create an exceptional player experience, with players taking special recognition of the player hospitality area. In addition, the Wells Fargo Championship offers one of the best weeks on TOUR for caddies.
“We are honored the players, their families, as well as the caddies, have selected us–out of all the other PGA TOUR tournaments– as the week where they have the best experience,” said Wells Fargo Championship Tournament Director Gary Sobba. “Since the birth of this tournament in 2003, one of the primary goals each year is to make sure everyone who steps on the property of Quail Hollow Club feels at home.”
This is the first time the Wells Fargo Championship has been named “Players Choice.” The tournament won “Tournament of the Year” in back-to-back years (2009, 2010), and was most recently recognized for “Best Tournament Sales” and “Salesperson of the Year” in 2018. When the PGA TOUR implemented the year-end awards ten years ago, the Wells Fargo Championship has consistently been among the top-five in “Tournament of the Year” voting.
The 2020 Wells Fargo Championship, won this year by Max Homa, will be held April 27-May 3 at Quail Hollow Club.
